ok correct me if this has been done before, but i did search for it and it turned up nothing so. here i go...
I want to know what is your list of the most badass characters in gaming.. any generation of gameing, modern or retro
here is my list...
10: Gex - Gex series - xD at first i started to laugh when i thought of gex as badass..but when u think of it back in the day he kinda was.. i mean just his image is BA, i mean how many other geckos can pull off a look with shades..., and the plot of most of the games is he is sucked into a Television world, what kid would want that to happen?, and as hes killing enemies hes insulting them with different movies quotes, most notibly Catty Shack, so thats why Gex is on my list of Badass characters..
9: Kratos - God of War series - well hes gacked like crazy.. he can kill creatures 300ft long.. RIPED, not cut off.. but riped the head from Medusa, killed a fuckin God.. than became a god... was sent to th underworld... and climed out and fought more monsters... thats sick!,
8: Nightmare - Soul Calibur series - te evil killer who went on a 4 year killing spree throught Europe, and consumed souls, plus weilds one other the sweetest looking swords throught gaming history, Nightmare makes it onto my list because of his histery.. in the older soul games hes the evil sword that possesed a young warrior and took control over his body..., when the warrior siegfried gain control over his body wonce again, he killed the "Nightmare"... but the evil sword soul edge manifested a new nightmare from the energy and soul it had consumed before... so now this new Nightmare is out again hunting for strong souls so its strenght is restored and it can kill seigfreid
7: Cloud Strife - Final Fantasy VII - well i guess u can say that cloud is an expected chaacter on any BA list.. well yeah but honestly i dont really pay RPGs, or the FF games for that mattr.. but i have played FF7 + FF8 wich i loved, so i was in a debate between Cloud and Squall, i didnt pic Sepheroth because iv seen sooooo many villians act like him so its not really new to me., but any way i was gonna go with Squall cause of his Gunsword, but i have to say CCloud's buster sword is cooler cause its fuckin huge!.. i mean its like a 6ft long, 1ft across, and a inch thick... cloud isnt even gacked and u can whip this around like its nothing
6: Ryu Hayabusa - Ninga Gaiden series - hes a fuckin ninja! cant get more badass than ninjas..
5; Dingodile - Crash Bandicoot series - iv said this before in another topic but dingodile is my favored villin in any game.. why? cause he is a fuckin mutant-crossbreed of a dingo and a crocodile, hes got a whitty adittude, and a flamethrower, u cant say no to flamethrowers
4: Master Chief - Halo series - well like Cloud before i know that seeing master chief would come to be expected but yes hes on my list cause i love the halo series and master chief has done somethings that not many other characters have.. like fought entire armies single handedly cause the A.I. that are there to help u keep dieing before the mission really starts >>.... but anyway yeah hes # 4
3: Solid Snake - Metal Gear series - a special ops. agent, and mercenary, snake is another one of those characrers to expect.. but its for a good reason, snake sneaks into terorrist bases using nothing but his intelect and a cardboard box.. but i dont think i need to say anymore
2: Dante - Devil May Cry series - Dante the demon hunter is the definition of badass, hes got twin handguns, a shot gun, and a sword, plus the game achually ranks u by how u killed ur enemies, D ull C ool B rilliant A wsome S tylish, but theres only one guy more badass than Dante...
1: Rick - Splatterhouse series - I would like to thank the HVGN for this one because if i didnt start watching his videos i would have gone a whole life with out knowing the splatterhouse games are... and since iv learnd about them, Rick is the most badass character i have ever seen, and the remake coming out soon makes him even better, iv seen a pic of him smashing a demon's head with his hands. and the HVGN said it him self "when a knife is thrown at rick.. what does he do?... he fucking punches it thats what" not much u can say after that... Rick the most badass character in gaming

Nope, it's never been posted. So let me keep the chain going and post mine. hmmm... lemme think.
In no specific order, can only think of 10 guys.
1. Final alien boss in Contra 3 for SNES. To get the true ending of the game you have to beat the game on hard difficulty. (could be very hard, i dunno it's been years): Any who, this is one bad ass tough boss.
2. Solid Snake: he just doesn't give a F&#*k. If rumors are true and he is ill equipped if you get my drift, then you have to be a bad ass for not killing yourself.
3. Bill Rizer(Contra): fighting off tons of aliens in 3 games and being held prisoner for years has to stand for something.
4. Johnny Cage(MK): Tons of people say he is gay for doing it but hell, you gotta have some balls to want to punch a man in the nuts.
5. Shao Kahn(MK): The guy is jacked and wacks people with a concrete mallet.
6. Ryu(SF): He lives for the fight
7. Wesker (Resident Evil): You have to be a pretty bad ass evil dude to lead people to slaughter and act like you know nothing like he did in RE1.
8. Master Higgins (adventrue island): The guy walks everywhere bear foot and eats a ton. Is also good with throwing rock hammers.
9. Bonk (bonk): The Guy uses his freaking head to kill everything.
10. Ryu Hyabusa (Ninja Gaiden): The most bad ass ninja of all time. Cuts people in half like their butter.

Just off the top of my head:
10) Firebrand/Red Arremer Ace, Ghost and Goblins series, Gargoyle's Quest series, SNK vs Capcom series, and, probably, the Maximo series as well. First off, I don't think I've ever seen anyone who is happy to see one of these things in the G&G series, they are smart, by comparison, fast, and lethal. Stepping into the GQ series, Firebrand not only axes anything he damn well pleases in hell, but can also transform into various other demons, fly, and break statues... with his FACE. If there is something more badass than punching a knife out of the air, it's that. Stepping into his SvC Chaos incarnation, he's so awesome he doesn't even need pants. Someone wanna make fun of his 'junk'? He'll pick 'em up and head-butt them, summon zombies and flying... whatevers with pitchforks to mug them, then slam into them G&G style. And laugh about it. <_< >_> Haven't played Maximo, so, no idea if the Aces are even in that game or not.
9) Sturm, Advance Wars 1 + 2. Killer. Snifit. With a meteor and killer paper units, and, in the second game, just straight out stacked units with no movement penalties... and a crappy redesign. Bah. Either way, he's the last boss Von Bolt wishes he could have been, and his mere existence reaches across games and genres to make people like Bison and Gill hide under their blankets at night. To this day there are people perpetuating rumors about him being playable in AW:DS. Possibly the most awesome character in a TBS game, EVER. Not even Orlandu with an Excalibur/Chaos Blade/Blade Grasp/Max Brave setup could take him.
8) Pyron, Darkstalker/Vampire series. Given, he's not a terribly great character, but everything about him is just badass, like his uppercut looking like fire arching up, fireballs that arch up to catch jumpers, a crazy fast buzz-saw special, and his super that turns him into a pillar of laughing plasma. Awesome, awesome stuff. However, the sad truth does remain that he is a horribly underpowered character. Bah.
7)Jedah, Darkstalkers/Vampire series. Properly used, this guy is a monster, and one of the few Capcom characters able to resist Sturm's awesome extra dimensional terror inflicting powers. From his crazed laughter, to excellent reach, unblockable supers, to decent mix-up and zone control, a well played Jedah is quite an awful thing to encounter, while still being quite beatable by anyone other than Pyron, who would get schooled by Mint from Tales of Phantasia in a fist fight. I still wish that SNK would have picked either Jedah or Pyron to stick into SvC Chaos instead of Demitri, I would have loved to see them in that game's much superior style.
6)Shao Kahn, Mortal Kombat 2 up. HAMMER! SMASHED! FACE! Kahn is pretty crazy awesome in MK 2 + 3; his taunting really puts people in their place. And that thing with him and Kintaro on the SNES version of MK2?

To bad he's such a wuss in MK:A, he's not even in the Boss weight tier. And he sucks compared to his MKII/3 counterpart. Bah. I guess he's just another example of how good things can't last forever. I also loved how it sounded like he was yelling "BAP!" when he hit people with his hammer in MK:T, he just has generic noises when he clubs people in MK:A. ;_;
5)Orochi, Various KoF games, most prominently '97. Everything about this guy makes him my favorite SNK Boss to date; he looks awesome, his music is awesome, he can rip you to bits in no time flat, he can cancel the recovery on several of his moves entirely, and, he has a full screen super. Also, speculation exists that he may be the last boss in the upcoming KoF XII, which will be a dream come true in many ways; seeing how broken Magaki was, maybe Orochi will be even more so.
4)Hotsuma, Shinobi (PS2). My personal choice for most badass ninja ever, he may only have one weapon, but with that one weapon he CUTS TANKS IN HALF, not to mention, if played right, he is all but a blur shredding enemies and bosses in to bits. I also think he may be able to one shot the last boss too, if done right, but I've never done it.
3)Luca Blight, Suikoden II. If you played the game, you understand the reasoning behind this, the man is an outright monster, and it takes almost your whole army just to kill him. Seriously, eighteen on one? Plus your army? I think he himself sums up all of his badass-ness pretty well when he says, "It took hundreds to kill me but I killed humans by the thousands. I am sublime!!! I am the true face of evil!!!!".
2)The 'I' block, any Tetris game. The L-Block may have won the GF character contest, but we all know the 'I' block is the true hero of Tetris. When you need a block badly, it's the 'I' block, when you have a piece you want, it's the 'I' block, when you need something to screw over your opponent, "I" block. The piece is just so awesome that you play the game, always leaving those four vertical blocks open, just in case its awesome decides to descend upon you. The "I" block could punch out God AND Chuck Norris... AT THE SAME TIME.
1)Justice, Guilty Gear NOT GGX+, or GGXX, or XX#R, or XXAC+, just GG. As a general rule, EVERYONE and EVERYTHING got toned down from the original game in all subsequent releases, Ky's dust was, is, no longer faster than his HS, Sol can't to do the Riot Stomp without touching the wall, Zato lost the triple drills, ect, ect. However, the three bosses from the first game got hit the hardest, Testament went from a rushdown character like Sol to a more trap based character, Baiken lost her raw power, i.e. c.HS = 1/4 a healthbar plus breaking virtually every other physical hit in the game, to Justice, who's losses include the loss of the Imperial Ray and full power Michael Sword as normal moves, ridiculous combos that didn't require any super bar at all, like, 1 1/8 healthbar combos, infinite Gamma Rays on her second bar, just... everything. People say Justice is horribly broken in GGX+ up, and compared to the rest of the cast, it may be true, but if she is broken in the GGX series, she is outright SHATTERED in the original game, and that much power is, as I have said many times, just outright sexy. In hard mode, which MAY only be available on the US version of the game, I get wrecked, and I laugh about it, and have more fun play against her than any other boss in the whole series. GGX Dizzy is only hard because her throw super is virtually instant and she throws it out all the time, I-No's Megalomania super is just a retarded mini-game the forces you to stop fighting her and playing it to avoid damage. Justice's super? Big ass beam, crazy damage, auto-dizzy on hit. Rocks. Also, if you only have a mono TV and have the sound set to stereo, sometimes it sounds like Justice screams "MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" in the original game when she fires off the Gamma Ray. I laugh every time. |

7: Jak - Jak & Daxter series - Jak is a total badass duto the fact that hes an anti-hero in a very serius cartoony platformer/action, he is by far much cooler than Ratchet, jak's artilery is als much cooler than his, jak only has one gun throught the whole game, he just adds a peice to it and it becomes a new gun thats sweet as it is, but to ad on to his badassyness he mutats into darker him and a lighter him, both are fuckin sweet to, thats why i have moved this list around to add Jak into it cause he truly is badass
