New Site Design
Modified By Drakul on 5/20/2008 2:06:30 PM)

I'm not sure if this should be here or not so feel free to move it.

I really like what you guys are doing right now. I like the new texture on the big logo (I'm wonderign if it's just a tad too big). and I like where you put the forum,pictures... buttons. I still scroll down from habits but it's nice placement. The only thing Is that I feel the black and blue don't matcht he overall feel of the page. maybe give more texture to the black or make it more grey?

Yeah John is just playing with a few things, nothing is definite.  We are in talks with a guy to do a big overhaul soon, I just been so busy I haven't gotten some things to him.

Re: New Site Design

yeah - i'm doing some temporary redesign -- but it could be here a little while.  I plan on making some changes to the show buttons soon as well.  I wanted to go a bit simpler and cleaner with the look.  The old banner, while alright, was getting a bit busy looking.  The site was a bit visbily intense (read: cluttered) so I'm trying to streamline it a bit.  Less is more right?  Bear with me while my creative juices flow :-)

Yeah I'm still doing that too -- I guess we'll get used to it -- it's better placement since the side menu has grown recently so it'll be second nature soon enough.  I'll get the color scheme to make sense.  The scheme has always been red, black, grey, and slight blue.  It's just how to use the blue effectively.  Since the site background has always been a blueish-grey, I'm trying to work with that somehow now that I've thrown the top logo banner right on the backdrop (well, that's the illusion anyway)

Re: New Site Design

I really like it. i noticed it earlier today.

I think it's a step in the right direction. I'm looking forward to the big redesign someday too.

Great Work John

Re: New Site Design

I just thought of something.

scrap the "home" button since you canclick on the big logo up top anyway, and it's more intuitive.

I was going to do that but I had some feedback against the idea.  Is it intuitive enough to simply click the top banner to return home?  I'll take a consensus before making any changes.

As for the blue-ish fonts, I kinda like them because they help briging in the background color of blue-gray (I feel like an interior designer now) but I may play with that a little, maybe havd that faint glow be red instead.  But that may be too much red -- like in the walkway outside Nicole Brown's house -- like the "blood in the streets in the town of New Haven."

I like the overall design, and especially the new logo on top of the site. The buttons do look nicer and cleaner, but I'm not so sure about that black background on 'em, kinda sticks out but still it's an improvement over the last design. :)

Keep tinkerin' away!

And I like the Home button, I use it all the time but I wouldn't mind clicking the logo, I just haven't thought about it since the button said "Home". I wouldn't mind if it went away though :)

Arr? Yarr!

Re: New Site Design

I really like this temporary design.

To place stuff like the forums and the bios on top of the screen makes way more sense now.

I also like the new headder for the site.

There is one thing I was thinking about recently. When I'm at a different computer I sometimes type in "retroware.tv" (which of course doesn't exist). This also happens with other websites like "atthemoviestv.com". So I was wondering if it would be wise to put the ".com" into the headder. I dunno if some other people are making the same mistake.

While I completely agree I don't think it's a good idea.

I've always hated sites that call themselves sith their .com ending. I feel it's like if I called myself Mel Saint MArceaux USA because that's where I live. .com is no a name it's just an address.

I love the new top buttons!!!!

Let me see if I got this right: Zelda, Galaga (or is it Space Invaders?), Mario, Castlevania, Pac Man.  ?
