Re: DisneyLand!Rea

There's actually a similar ride in Disney World, but it's called Space Ranger Spin. Only difference is that the vehicles spin around using a joystick, and the guns are attached ot the vehicle.

Hmm.  Last time I was at Disneyland, the Astro Blasters were controlled with joysticks also.  Did they remove that feature?  I also don't recall getting my picture taken on that ride.  Sounds like it's gone through some renovations.

All right, be honest.  Were you Space Ranger 1 or Space Ranger 2?

Re: DisneyLand!Rea

I actually went to WDW the year before. I had already been 3 times in the past, but Christina had never been. With her being such a huge Disney fan and collector, I knew I had to take her there. So I did, and she absolutely loved it. After that vacation, we immediately started making plans to visit DL, as I had never been there before and we both wanted a fresh Disney experience, and to see the original Disney Park. That's also when I knew that is where I wanted to propose to her. :)

In unicen... *AAAWWWWW!!!*

Re: DisneyLand!Rea

That is a real tough call. I love WDW. But, there is just something about DL that I really like. It's got that great "vlassic Disney" feel to it, and it really feels special knowing that Walt actually walked in this park. Sleeping Beauty's castle is much smaller than Cinderella's in WDW, but I think it looks more beautiful. I lve the moat all around it, and the look of the castle itself better all around.

It's a tough call, but I think I have to say I like DL better.

Re: DisneyLand!Rea

I've heard that DL is considered to have the better version of Space Mountain, mainly because it's newer and smoother.  I can't compare personally, as I've only been to DL.  But I've also heard that neither of them hold a candle to EuroDisney's "Space Mountain: Mission 2" which includes three inversions.  But I usually don't like coasters with loops.

Re: DisneyLand!Rea

I do love the original Space Mountain at WDW, but yeah...DL's SM is so much better! I loved it! The ride itself is more fun, and I LOVE the soundtrack that they blast in your ears via the speakers in the head rest. It really adds to the experience!

Re: DisneyLand!Rea

Heh.  I love the music, too!  It was different before the refurbishment a few years back.  It used to be a surf guitar track that was actually performed by Dick Dale.  (You can hear the original music on YouTube here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=yIOyL_PbmlE )  I suppose the new music fits the action a bit better, but I have a soft spot for the surf guitar.

Re: DisneyLand!Rea

Awesome!

One of my favorite things to do is log onto Live365.com while I'm at work, and tune to MouseWorld Radio or one of the otehr Disney Park radio stations. They play nothing but music and sounds from the parks. And i am a huge fan of all of that music.

Oh, and if you hadn't noticed yet, I have some ride through videos posted on my Youtube account, if that's something that interests you. :)

Re: DisneyLand!Rea

They sell a CD at Disneyland called The Official Album of Disneyland.  Maybe you've seen it.  It's got various music from around DL.  I've got an older version of it that has the old Space Mountain music.  I actually bought it specifically for that.

Your videos brought back some memories!  I guess DL's rides usually aren't quite as "extreme" as other theme parks, but they make up for it with great presentation.  Someone once said, "Nobody does fake decay like Disney.  If you want the real thing, go to Knott's Berry Farm."

Re: DisneyLand!Rea

It's possible that the Space Mountain in EuroDisney is the best but EuroDisney in a sense.....sucks. Don't get me wrong the spark in itself isn't bad at all but for me a Disney park outside of the US with everyone speaking French is not Disney.........and short of blasphemy. Plus in Paris it's only viable from say.....May to September, because if you take rides like say Indianna Jones or Pirates and you get wet...well in Florida or LA you dry in 10 minutes. In Paris if you don't go in the summer you stay wet for hours.....which sucks ass.

As far as the differences between DL and WDW I can't really remember very well because I went to DL iin 1997 for just one day and I went to WDW in 1991!! but I think I like WDW better cause it's bigger and you have the whole Epcot Center and the MGM studios...(do those still exist??)

so anyway :)

Re: DisneyLand!Rea

Nester: I saw that CD while I was there, and i wanted to buy it so bad. But alas, I had already spent too much money, and couldn't afford it. Next time, I'll buy it. I do have quite a bit of Disney Park music on my PC, but I definitely want that CD, also.

Drakul: You need to go back to a Disney park. It's been far too long for you! :)
