Derek, you did an amazing job with this video. Very well done! There was so much great information, and I loved all of the screenshots.
I played Eathbound back when it first came out. I enjoyed it, but I never actually owned it. Just rented it. Because of that, I never did get very far into it. This is a game I would love to go back and get ahold of now, and try to play through. You're video makes me feel that way even more!
And I loved learning more about Mother and Mother 3. I knew about them, but I never knew the whole story. So that was the most interesting part of the video to me, and I'm really glad you covered it.
Great work again, Derek! I think this is my favorite video of yours. :) -Pixel Dan

Wow. I really have no idea what to say to the HVGN except thanks for talking about this underrated series. It's one of my favorite games on the SNES. The HVGN, however, failed to mention Mother 2's censorship when it came out in the US: if you wanna read about it, that's at http://tomato.fobby.net/m2eb/
Also, I think a Mother 1 and 2 GBA translation is coming soon. Oh, and play mother 3, it's great... just keep a few tissues handy.
Thanks for another epic video, HVGN. Had enough of games that you hate? Let's talk about some games that are great! I'd rather let... the people know.. about the underrated classics of old! |

I had to sign up just to say good job on the video. Tons of great information about the product. Here is my small contribution. From what I can tell there is in fact an offical NOA translation of Mother 1 and you can have it made into a fully working NES cart if you wish. The site is here: http://www.nesreproductions.com/ . I had this done for my sister since she is a HUGE EB fan ( I still haven't found the time to pick it up, I know that is wrong of me, it's sitting on my shelf, but things come up and get in the way). The quality of the label looked great, the cartridge is the one you send in so that looked good and It worked just fine. A good idea for anyone wanting to add the closest thing to a real copy of this game to their collection :D. Looking forward to your future videos! |

Well made, informative video once again there Derek!
Earthbound never made it to Europe so I never really played the game when it came out. Only through emulation I tried it, but frankly I didn't care to much for it. Even though it was really different from most RPG's and I really liked it's original take, the story just got a bit to shallow for me. Maybe I should give it another try sometime... |

Great job Derek. Your video's are superb, I look forward to them more than I do most movies. I'm not just saying that for the sake of it either, you really are a credit to the gaming community bro.
Here's to many more great vids, my man.

I watched the review and now I'm getting an urge to play Earthbound.I still don't get why Nintendo didn't released EarthBound zero and 3 in the US.Heck Release it in a Trilogy or at least release it on the VC.Nintendo releases trash like the TMNT Nes,Wario's wood on the VC but no Earthbound?! That's uncool!!! I think it's time for Nintendo to release Earthbound.Instead of releasing another Pokemon game or another FF game why not release Earthbound for the DS?
BTW HVGN you did a fantastic job in your review. --But If you attack someone for what the like or dislike and for their opinions that's out of control and there's a lot of that in gamers--

Well! This wanted me to play EarthBound, for sure! Even though I'm no huge sucker for J-RPGs these days. :)
But really Derek, awesome and truly awesome video, so lang that I actually brought some snacks and something to drink, just awesome, pure eye candy entertainment! I must say that you do a splendid job of speaking about games and such, I know many people like the Gametrailers Retrospectives, but their speaker voice feels like he is just reading of a script in a very script-feel-like-way if you know what I mean, you have a more of a natural flow and some personality and opinion, which adds much needed flavour to it all, and to sum it up, you do know how to edit which makes your videos just pure awesomeness. Really, fantastic work, you really should get paid for this kind of stuff! Some magazine should hire you for their online site and voilá, great video content. Although, I guess that would bring money in your pockets (if it did happen) but I guess you would lose some of freedom, like, you can't swear or do somestuff since it would violate company rules I bet, but yeah. uh.... What I'm trying to say is, you do a great job with these videos, thanks for making 'em.
I eagerly await the next one. It must be some time consuming to put this together, first find the spare time for it, then record it several times until you get a good take, then record or get some free game footage and hunt for images. Great stuff! :)
I still remember just stumbling upon your videos on youtube or was it ScrewAttack? I can't remember, I just saw one of your videos and I was hooked, and later you joined up with RWTV which I just had begun to visit a month or so earlier.
Well uh, enough rambling and stuff, I can't wait for more of these episodes. But I feel so horrible for saying "please make more!" it's like asking a guy who saved your life for his wallet and his car. You do such a good job for free and all. Well uh, you have a fan and all, keep it up! Arr? Yarr! |

This video was... AWESOME!
I just love learning the backstories behind games, and this certainly did. I had always wondered why we missed out on Mother 1 and 3, and now I know. This also takes me back. I remember getting pretty far in Earthbound, but I don't recall if I beat it. I would KILL for a vc release, and US translations of 1 & 3 would be the cream of the crop. Anyway, video was absolutely superb as usual, keep up the good work! |

Heya! This was amazing work :D I actually started watching HVGN stuff back at around the StarTropics episode, but this blows everything out of the water. I had actually hoped that someday someone would do something like this that was this in-depth. It really almost could be a mini-documentary, in a lot of ways it reminded me of those game documentaries I've seen on TV before about things like Tetris, Game Boy, etc.
I posted this over at EarthBound Central earlier in the day, and although everyone who goes there already knows all about the game, I hope your video will get more people to try EB for the first time :D |

Why are Nintendo so resiliant to release EarthBound in the West? They axed the NES release and bypassed the GBA one, Only to look like complete tools when they need to explain who Ness is in SSB. why?
Also even worse, We NEVER had it released in Europe. I remember seeing the massive boxes for it in my local import shop at the time, but they wanted silly prices for it. Guru Larry: You've read my post, you can't "un-read" it!!!
