Pier Solar beta demo released + pre orders open!
Modified By i_heart_yuna on 9/3/2008 10:05:26 AM)

Pier Solar, incase you don't know, is a brand new from-the-ground-up RPG developed for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive. It goes on sale December 24th of this year and will come in the form of a cartridge with a cd that when played together (with the sega cd) will greatly enhance the games sound track. I did a write up of it on my blog a couple months ago, you can find that at iheartyuna.wordpress.com/2008/04/02/pier-solar-brand-new-genesis-and-sega-cd-rpg/.

They have released the Beta Demo and it's pretty good. They also opened pre-orders, and it's only $35 shipped, which includes the cart, case, manual, sega cd soundtrack enhancer, plus other goodies. It will ship on the release date, so go preorder it and give yourself a new years gift at www.piersolar.com/

Frankly i don't know. It looks okay but definitely not worth $35 in my opinion. the graphics are alrigth but the animation looks very choppy...

I like the idea that it's developed by homebrewers for an old console. That's quite an accomplishment.

...While I do appreciate the development of the game, especially if it is good, I can't say that developing it for such a heavily emulated console makes even the most remote sense. Oh well, I may buy it, my genesis needs another RPG.

I think it's more the novelty of having something *new* to play that's the point.... if I actually had time to play anything for more than about 30 seconds, I'd probably buy it. If nothing else, just to give a bit of support to the homebrew scene. It looks better quality than a lot of commercial games from the Genesis era.

Well I ordered, it looks alright (although I agree that the animations aren't that good) and I like to suport these kind of projects. I think it's awesome they do this and hope more will pick up this idea. Would be great if they'd start a trend and some undipendant developers made some new games for old consoles!
